Product Description
Dow manufacturers this Filmtec reverse osmosis membrane. This reverse osmosis membrane is intended for tap water applications and is ideally suited for residential and light industrial / commercial use. It is a spiral wound Thin Film Composite (TFC) membrane that must be used with non-chlorinated water supplies. It is very often used in residential reverse osmosis systems where the chlorine from the tap water is first removed with single or dual stage carbon pre filters.
Replacing the reverse osmosis membrane on a reverse osmosis system is an important step to maintaining high quality and quantity of water. In a residential setting, Filmtec membranes are usually replaced between 3 -5 years of service. A drop in the quantity of water being produced is a good indicator that it's time to change the reverse osmosis membrane. A drop in water quality (usually measured as an increase in conductivity or tds) is another indicator that the reverse osmosis membrane should be changed.
