More About the Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housing Kit 20" / Blue
Using a water filter housing with a water filter cartridge is the most common way to purify the water for a whole home or building. This product ships complete with a blue-colored water filter housing, filter wrench, and all the mounting hardware required for an easy and straightforward installation. A "Big Blue" housing will accomodate larger diameter filter cartridges than a standard housing. The 20" Big Blue requires 20" X 4.5" cartridges or you can use two 10" Big Blue style cartridges with a coupler.This product features standard 1" female threaded inlet and outlet plumbing connections and is capable of handling flow rates in excess of 15 gallons per minute, depending on the filter cartridge it is being used with. Because this filter housing will permit high flow rates it is typically used in commercial & industrial settings. Common uses for Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housings
- used with a 5-micron sediment filter to remove suspended solids from well water
- used witha 20-micron sediment filter to remove suspended solids from lake water
- used with an activated carbon filter to improve drinking water taste/odor/color
- used as a pre-filter with an ultraviolet water purifier
- used with an absolute 0.5 or 1-micron cartridge for cyst removal
