Inactivatesearch for term: This term is often used to describe ultraviolet light water disinfection systems. UV disinfection does not "kill" microorganisms - it simply renders them unable to reproduce. This is referred to an "inactivated". A microorganism that is unable to reproduce is not able to cause disease.
