Product Description
The Waterwise 8800 countertop distiller utilizes an activated carbon bag to filter the remaining contaminants that distillation does not remove. Carbon cups are good for 2 months or 60 - 80 gallons, whichever comes first.
The waterwise 8800 uses a process called steam distillation (or just "distillation"). Steam distillation is one of the oldest but most effective ways to remove contaminants from drinking water. Distilled water is water that has been boiled and then condensed. The transformation of the water from liquid to steam and then back to liquid is the same way that nature purifies water in our ecosystems. This process removes virtually all pollutants. The few pollutants that remain are removed by the integrated carbon filter cup. The result is pure, delicious water. Some of the pollutants removed by the Waterwise 8800 distiller include: arsenic, chlorine, herbicides, lead, mercury, sodium, and all living organisms such as bacteria, viruses, and cysts.
HOW THE WATERWISE 8800 DISTILLER WORKS
- Ordinary tap water is heated to 212 degrees F (100 degrees C) killing microbes such as bacteria, cysts, and viruses
- Steam rises leaving behind dead microbes, dissolved solids, salts, heavy metals and other substances
- Low boiling light gases are discharged through the distiller's gaseous vent
- Steam is condensed in the stainless steel coil
- Purified water then percolates through the carbon filter bag removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- The steam distilled water is collected in the integrated polycarbonate collector/storage bottle (included)
