Dual Stage 1-Micron Absolute Cyst Filter
This dual stage filtration system provides NSF Standard 61 certified performance for the removal of cysts such as cryto and giardia to 99.9%. Dual stages work together to remove sediment and to protect the 1-micron cyst removing filter. The twin mounted housings are pre-plumbed on a single bracket making installation easy. This filter system is designed for surface or ground water soures where cyst contamination is a known or potential risk.
More About the Dual Stage 1-Micron Absolute Cyst Filter
Cysts such as Cryptosporidium (aka Crypto), Giardia (aka Beaver Fever), microsporidia, and others are common surface water contaminants. Ingesting these organisms is dangerous and is almost certain to cause severe gastro-intestinal illness. The Dual Stage 1-Micron Absolute Cyst Filter is a combination of two stages.
Stage 1 uses the Pentek DGD-5005-20 Dual Gradient sediment filter cartridge. This cartridge is built with a 50-micron outer layer and 5-micron inner core. This allows the filter cartridge to trap and hold sediment throughout the filter body, not just on the outside layer. This high dirt handling capacity means less pressure loss, fewer cartridge changes, and higher flow rates. The Pentek DGD-5005-20 can be used on municipal water, well water, and surface water sources making this cartridge highly versatile and one of our most popular sediment cartridge choices.
Stage 2 is the Harmsco PP-BB-20-1 NSF Standard 61 1-micron absolute pleated cartridge. This cartridge is certified for 99.9% removal of cysts. It's pleated construction maximizes surface area for efficient filtering while reducing pressure loss.
