This dual stage cottage filtration system offers superior sediment and carbon stages for the removal of suspended particulates, bad taste and odor, and countless other chemical contaminants. The twin mounted housings are pre-plumbed on a single bracket making installation easy. This system is well suited for surface water applications where sediment loads are moderate to heavy and where 5 - 10 gallons per minute is the desired flow rate.

More About the Dual Stage Cottage Water Filter System
Many cottages utilize surface water sources that are often high in sediment and often have taste, odor, and color issues. This system is designed to address these water concerns in a single system that is easy to install and easy to maintain.
Many different filtration applications call for the use of sediment and carbon. This filter system combines both of these elements in the 20" big blue format for superior flow rates and minimal pressure loss. The combination of sediment and activated carbon accomplishes many different filtration requirements.
This system uses the Pentek DGD-5005-20 Dual Gradient sediment filter cartridge. This cartridge is built with a 50-micron outer layer and 5-micron inner core. This allows the filter cartridge to trap and hold sediment throughout the filter body, not just on the outside layer. This high dirt handling capacity means less pressure loss, fewer cartridge changes, and higher flow rates. The Pentek DGD-5005-20 can be used on municipal water, well water, and surface water sources making this cartridge highly versatile and one of our most popular sediment cartridge choices.
The carbon stage in this dual stage system utilizes the Pentek EP-20BB carbon block cartridge. This carbon block filter cartridge is the workhorse of the Pentek product lineup. Carbon block cartridges possess incredible surface area and for this reason are highly effective in the removal of dissolved chemical contaminants. This cartridge is ideal for the removal of chlorine from municipal water supplies and for the removal of most compounds that will impart a bad taste or odor to drinking water. Carbon filters are not good for sediment, which is why this cartridge has been paired with a high quality sediment filter. This improves the performance and lifespan of the carbon.
The combination of a sediment and carbon filter is an ideal one-two punch for many applications. Common applications for this dual stage system are pre-UV water treatment, cottage water systems, whole home chlorine removal and many others.
