More About the Max Flow Iron Filter System

The Max Flow Iron Filter System is designed for the removal of dissolved and particulate iron in water.  Iron in water is problematic for many reasons.  It imparts a metallic taste to drinking water, and stains tubs, toilets, and other fixtures.  When iron is present in water it can also cause laundry to turn brown over time.

This system is designed for the removal of low to moderate amounts of iron.  The Pentek RFFE20-BB cartridge utilizes a unique iron-absorbing resin.  The number of gallons this cartridge can purify depends on the amount of iron present in the water:

0.5 ppm of iron = 160,000 gallon capacity

1.0 ppm of iron = 80,000 gallon capacity

2.0 ppm of iron = 40,000 gallon capacity

3.0 ppm of iron = 20,000 gallon capacity

To determine how long this cartridge will last in your home, you can use a water bill to determine how many gallons of water you use in a month.  If you do not have this information it is safe to assume that each person in your home will use about 75 gallons of water each day.  As an example, a family of 4 people with 1.0 ppm of iron in their water will need to change this cartridge every 267 days (about every 9 months).
